The Mirror: Britney Spears back to best
AFTER a fish and chip supper, most of us need a cup of tea and a lie-down.
But not Britney Spears, who prefers to writhe around in front of 20,000 people.
The pop star requested fish and chips on her backstage rider before last night’s O2 show – and, incredibly, that wasn’t the oddest request on her list. That has to be the framed photo of her doomed idol, Princess Diana.
Says my mole: “Britney adores the monarchy. Diana was in many ways her inspiration.”
Under the princess’ watchful gaze, Britney tucked into cod, deep-fried scampi, chips and mushy peas. My source adds: “Britney doesn’t count the calories when she’s in Britain.”
It didn’t end there either. She also requested McDonald’s cheeseburgers, without the buns, 100 figs and prunes, and toothpaste. Still, judging by her performance at the 02, she needed all the fuel she could get...
Britney brought her A-game to the futuristic Femme Fatale set, pumping up the party vibe with Will.i.am DJing on-screen.
She asked: “What’s up, London? Check this out – this is how I roll,” then writhed to Hold It Against Me, sailed through Gimme More and delivered pin-sharp movements to Baby One More Time – proving the Queen of Camp is definitely back.
After a set full of hits, Britney finished with a pyrotechnics display, ascending 40ft in angelic fashion to the strains of Till The World Ends. By then there was no doubt that she’d burnt off all those calories and was probably even a Brit peckish again...
