(WATCH) Don Philips surprising audition!!!

At Sunday’s auditions in San Fransisco, Britney encountered a familiar face that left her teary eyed.
It was Don Phillip, who sang with Britney on “I Will Still Love You” from the Baby One More Time album.
“You could see that Britney recognized him straight away,” a source tells People. “She got this huge smile on her face and her eyes lit up. It was so sweet.”
“I know him,” Britney whispered to the other judges. “We did a duet together 10 years ago.”
Philip told the audience, “I’m gay,” and the audience got emotionally charged.
“At the time I didn’t think I was worthy,” he told Britney. “I didn’t think you thought it was okay that I am gay.”
Britney was nothing but supportive. “I think it is fine you are gay,” she said.
“When he started crying and saying he thought he’d never see her again and that he’d had a lot to deal with, Britney was comforting him to calm him,” the source says.
But during his audition, Britney was visibly shaken.
“She’s been through a lot in those 10 years, too, so it must have been a shock for her to see him,” the source says. “You could tell she was emotional and she really felt for him especially when he was crying, but she also stayed calm.”
Britney kept cool, giving him a sound critique. “She handled it unbelievably well and really stepped up to the situation,” says the source. “It was probably the most personal and emotional situation for her that’s happened so far on X Factor, and she took it totally in stride in front of a live audience of thousands.”

Tonight i might have sealed my music career fate according to a certain music mogul. I tryed to just be real and instead it totally got turned around on me. . Perhaps this was not the place for me to reveal my very soul and obstacles of my past. Certainly not the place for a reunion … I promise I only had good intentions in mind.. There is one problem my good intentioned comments and revelation were refereed by two pompass arrogant men. My voice froze i started to sing when I was told to but I could not recover from what felt like a really hardcore interogation. I guess I am not as tough skinned as I thought….Wait it gets worse.. when I looked into the very eyes of my old label mate and saw she to was sad.I knew the whole situation was spinning out of control.. my heart broke.. I am numb

Simon Cowell is not the only one who knows how to play hard-to-please on The X Factor.

During auditions in Kansas City – where Cowell was out sick – Britney Spears proved she was taking her new job very seriously.

"She's got a really good instinct, and when she loves something, she looks like she wants to dance on the desk," a source tells PEOPLE. "When she doesn't like someone, she is incredibly tough."

Her tough side came out over the weekend, when she told one disappointed singer, "You have to be great to be on this show, so [I vote] no."

During another audition, Spears and the other judges – Demi Lovato, L.A. Reid and Cowell stand-in Louis Walsh – walked off the set when a contestant refused to face the panel as he sang.

But, according to the source, Spears has a soft side too, which she displayed when she heard one little girl with a big voice.

The young contestant, who sang "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going" from Dreamgirls, told the panel that if she won, she'd use some of the $5-million prize to take care of her family, so they would never have to be homeless again.

"Whoa! I don't even believe you're real," Spears, smiling, told the aspiring singer after a chills-inducing performance. "Was that just a track? You are amazing! Holy cow! You are a little woman, and you're going to soar."

As for Spears, since joining X Factor last month, "she's really massively grown in confidence," the source told PEOPLE. "She loves interesting and fun auditions and is prepared to stick her neck out and support someone no matter if some of the other judges disagree."

Britney Spears may be a pop-star diva to the rest of the world, but to beau Jason Trawick, “she’s his everyday princess,” says celebrity jeweler Neil Lane, who designed Spears’s dazzling engagement ring to befit Trawick’s vision of the singer’s down-home regality. “Jason is a romantic and when I asked him to tell me about Britney and what the ring would represent to them so I could find inspiration, his response was always the same — she is his princess!”

With that theme in mind, Lane tells PEOPLE he designed from scratch a tiara-motif sparkler with a round, perfect white diamond in a handmade platinum setting that “looks like a mini crown,” the celebrated jeweler says. He also added 90 small round diamonds around the eternity band. “Jason didn’t want an over-the-top ring with a giant stone,” he adds.

Over the last month, Lane and Trawick clocked phone and email minutes as they collaborated while Trawick was traveling with Spears on her global tour. “Texts came from all over the world, from Abu Dhabi, Mexico and I don’t know where else!” says Lane.

But when Trawick stopped into Lane’s Los Angeles store to pick up the ring — less than one week before the proposal! — they both knew the hard work and scheming had paid off. “Oh my god, he loved it,” Lane shares, adding that he could tell Trawick had pre-proposal jitters. “The guy was so excited and nervous. At the end of the day, even with all the fame, he’s still a normal guy who was about to propose to the woman he loves.”

That said, Lane believes this couple is in it for the long haul. “He’s deeply in love with her. Britney is his princess and he is her knight in shining armor,” he says. “Jason’s protective of her. He adores her. Every good fairytale needs a princess, and now Britney has a ring fit for a princess!”

Jamie Lynn debuts new music

Center stage, a spotlight, a microphone ... and another singing Spears.

Jamie Lynn Spears, 20, took to a Nashville stage for the first time on Monday night, singing a set of her own original songs to a packed crowd of family and friends.

Grandfather June Spears traveled from the family's hometown of Kentwood, La., with other relatives (although not sister Britney Spears, who is touring overseas) to cheer on Jamie Lynn, sitting near her beaming parents Lynne and Jamie Spears, as well as country music legend Pam Tillis.

"I am so emotional tonight," Lynne told PEOPLE after watching her youngest daughter perform. Her father, Jamie, concurred, saying, "We are so proud of her."
Spears, who has been living in Nashville the past two years with her daughter, Maddie, 3, performed at The Rutledge, a live music venue on 4th Avenue South and took to Twitter to express her appreciation.

"Just wanna thank all my amazing friends and family for coming out tonight!!!" she wrote.

For most people, the idea of working out for more than six hours a day might sound like nothing short of torture.
But Britney Spears can’t get enough. For the last six weeks, she’s been training for 90 minutes a day, followed by another five hours of dance rehearsals in preparation for her North American tour, kicking off June 16 in Sacramento.
“I’m pumped up!” Spears tells PEOPLE inside her cozy dressing room on the Sony lot in Culver City, Calif. “We’ve been working hard. And the costumes are coming next week. This is the exciting part, when all the pieces – the masterpiece – come together.”
During Spears’s month and a half of prep time, trainer Derek DeGrazio has cooked, packaged and labeled meals (like baked fish and broccoli) and snacks (such as celery with almond butter) for the 29-year-old pop star, six days a week.
She does get a break from all the discipline, though. Sunday, says Spears, is her “cheat day.”
But it’s certainly not derailing her efforts. Spears’s workouts and her 1,500-calorie-a-day nutrition plan have whipped her into top tour shape.
“You can see the tone in her muscles – her arms, legs and abs,” says DeGrazio. “She looks amazing.”

According to People, Britney was enjoying a night out at the Mondrian Hotel in L.A. She stopped by SkyBar with a younger guy but sans entourage or security. Britney, who sported a green turtleneck, stuck to juice and hung out poolside, occasionally approaching the deejay booth to check out the action as DJ

Britney Celebrates Sons’ Joint Birthdays at Disneyland

From a hamburger run to the Happiest Place on Earth, Britney Spears had her hands full over the weekend while marking her sons’ latest milestones.

The pop star, 28, treated Jayden, who turned 4 on Sunday, to Johnny Rockets in Calabasas, Calif., and also celebrated son Preston’s fifth birthday.
“Spent the boys’ bday weekend at Disney and had a blast,” Spears Tweeted Tuesday. “I can’t believe my boys are getting so big! Happy birthday JJ and Preston. – Brit”
The brothers, a source tells PEOPLE, “went wild” at the theme park in Anaheim, Calif., on Saturday before having a small bash at home.
Also on the agenda for the birthday boys? Having yet another party. “The boys also brought a cake to school and celebrated with their friends,” says the source.

Kevin Federline Defends Britney Against Security Guard's Claims

Britney Spears's ex-husband, Kevin Federline, believes a former security guard's sexual-harassment claims against Spears are fabricated and that the case warrants no action, according to a report.

"He is satisfied that the allegations are a product of economic motives," Federline's attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, tells the Associated Press. "They are as baseless as they seem."
Among other claims, the guard alleges that Spears, 28, engaged in sex acts in the presence of her and Federline's two young children – something Federline also does not believe.
Kaplan said Federline, 32, who has custody of Sean Preston, 4, and Jayden James, 3, takes the kids' welfare extremely seriously, and that an investigation into Fernando Flores's claims prior to his lawsuit turned up nothing.
Federline and Spears were married in 2004 and split two years later. After a long court battle, their custody settlement was finalized in 2008. Federline has sole custody, with Spears granted frequent visitation.

Britney's Dinner Date with Jason Trawick - and His Parents!

They've been romantically linked since last summer, and Saturday Britney Spears and beau Jason Trawick had special guests join them at dinner : his parents.

Before heading to L.A.'s Pantages Theatre for a show, the pop star and her former agent, had a double dinner date with Trawick's mother and father at the Grafton on Sunset Hotel's Olive Kitchen + Bar.
They dined from about 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on meatballs and margarita pizza, and an onlooker at the restaurant says Spears enjoyed the quality time with his folks.
"She seemed to fit in very well with his family", the source tells People.Com. "She seemed very comfortable. She was very warm to them".
As for Spears and Trawick, who have already fended off engagement rumors, they appeared to be a happy couple, keeping it romantic but low-key.
"Britney and Jason were really affectionate", the source says, "but at the same time very respectful."

Britney Spears Turns Designer with her First Collection for Candie’s

Not content to just be the face of the brand and an international megastar � Britney Spears is designing her own new limited edition apparel and accessories collection for Candie’s set to exclusively hit Kohl’s stores and kohls.com on July 1.

Britney tells InStyle.com that she was hands-on in the creation process of the line, from meeting with Candie’s designers to helping them sketch some of her favorite looks. “My personal style is a mix of comfortable and flirty,” she tells InStyle.com. “I love cute little dresses, but I also love comfy sweaters and jeans.”
So what can we expect from the star’s design debut? “I used a lot of studs and lace because I wanted to make the clothes cool and edgy yet girly,” Brit says, likening the assortment to some of her own must-have wardrobe staples. “I also love jeans, so I had to make sure there were some great pairs in the collection.”
Also expect big necklaces and earrings as well as Brit’s favorite � a black trench coat. And like any good star designer, Britney will also appear in the national print, TV and and online campaign for Kohl’s, featuring the singer wearing the collection along with personal handwritten notes such as, “You’ll love these jeans!” with the tagline, “Designed by me for you!” The collection of apparel, handbags and jewelry will range from $14-$78.
